Open Book
An Interactive exhibit that explores the relationship between mirrors, reflections and angles.
Mirrors operate based on the law of reflection, which dictates that light bounces off a smooth, reflective surface at the exact same angle it arrived. This means the incoming angle of light (angle of incidence) is always equal to the outgoing angle of light (angle of reflection).
How it Works…
This exhibit has two mirrors, one stationary and one that exists on a moving cantilevered door.
As the door moves, the angle of reflection between the two mirrors changes.
This creates an optical illusion, resulting in an increase or decrease in the number of repeating reflections seen at specific angles.
The custom built light up floor creates an extra layer of repeating geometry that adds the the experience.
